Newark man killed in motorcycle-pickup crash west of Zanesville

ZANESVILLE − A Newark man has died from injuries suffered in a May 30 crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck in Muskingum County.

The crash occurred at 11:40 a.m. May 30 near the intersection of U.S. 40 and Chapel Hill Road, according to a release from Zanesville post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Roy-Donn Alexander, 59, of Newark was driving a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he was struck by a 2007 Dodge pickup truck driven by William McDonald Jr., 50, of Philo. McDonald failed to yield to oncoming traffic while attempting to make a left turn, according to the release.

Alexander attempted to avoid striking the truck by breaking hard and overturned. He was transported by MedFlight to Ohio State University Medical Center, where he later died.

The pickup truck was not damaged. Assisting on scene were Falls Township Fire Department and EMS and Tanner’s Towing.
