Texas A&M coach Mike Elko has developed a national reputation as one of the top recruiters in the country after taking over the program before the 2024 season, landing multiple top-10 recruiting classes. The Aggies currently possess the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, which includes the top-ranked safety who is considered an immediate impact player with Year 1 starting potential.
One of a nation-leading five five-star commits, Virginia-based safety Kamarui Dorsey, committed to Texas A&M back in early November, and has fully bought into Mike Elko’s vision, especially after elevating new defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill this offseason. According to On3, Dorsey’s most accurate player comp is Chargers All-Pro safety Derwin James based on size, versatility, and athleticism.
On Saturday, ahead of Dorsey’s official visit to Texas A&M on June 12, the five-star defender has reportedly shut down his recruitment and intends to sign with the Aggies in early December, continuing a trend in the 2027 cycle after four-star tackle DeMarrion Johnson shut down his recruitment earlier this year.
While Dorsey will continue to be pursued by nearly every blue-blood program, his fit in Elko’s defensive scheme is near perfect, while ESPN college football analyst Tom Luginbill provided one of the better scouting reports for the blue-chip safety, and what Aggie fans should expect once he makes his way to College Station this time next year.
