The Texas Tech softball team got into a hole early and couldn’t get out of it as Florida took Game 2 of the Gainesville Super Regional 10-2 on Saturday.
Game 3 is set for Sunday with the time and TV channel to be determined.
Florida got a two-run home run two batters in and knocked NiJaree Canady out of the game in the fourth. Samantha Lincoln didn’t have much more success as the Gators poured it on and rolled to the win.
Texas Tech had just five hits and left 10 runners on base while Florida tallied 14 hits.

3:07 p.m.: Final, Florida takes Game 2 10-2 to force a third game.
2:58 p.m.: Final opportunity for Texas Tech softball, trailing 10-2 in the bottom of the 7th, with Burns, Pannell and Terry due up.
2:45 p.m.: We head to the 7th, Texas Tech softball trailing 9-2.

2:27 p.m.: It’s 9-2 Florida after 5 innings. For those wondering, we’re waiting for a game time for a potential Game 3 tomorrow.
2:18 p.m.: The bleeding is over but Florida puts up another 4 runs to take a 9-2 lead. Game’s guaranteed to go to the 6th but Texas Tech softball needs another major comeback as we go to the bottom of the 5th.
1:55 p.m.: Texas Tech softball gets one back but the Red Raiders leave the bases loaded and trail 5-2 through 4.
1:30 p.m.: Florida gets another 2-run home run and Samantha Lincoln is coming in to pitch for NiJaree Canady, Texas Tech down 5-1.
1:23 p.m.: Jasmyn Burns puts Texas Tech softball on the board with a sacrifice fly but the Red Raiders strand a pair. Florida leads 3-1 through 3 innings.
12:49 p.m.: Jazzy Burns draws a walk but that’s it for Texas Tech softball. Florida leads 2-0.
12:43 p.m.: NiJaree Canady settles in after the home run with three straight strikeouts, all looking. Texas Tech softball up to bat in the bottom of the 1st.
12:38 p.m.: Florida takes a 2-0 lead before an out can be recorded on a two-run home run from Jocelyn Erickson.
12:05 p.m.: NiJaree Canady will start in the circle for Texas Tech softball. Florida once against going with Keagan Rothrock.
10:35 a.m.: Scratch there. Texas Tech softball announced on social media the game will now start at 12:35 p.m. Central due to weather in the Gainesville area.
10:32 a.m.: Nothing to report, just updating that we’re an hour away from first pitch on ABC between Texas Tech softball and Florida.
