The Nashville Sounds, the Milwaukee Brewers’ Triple A affiliate, are enjoying their best stretch of the season as winners of six straight games, including five consecutive on their current six-game homestand.
But they’re doing it while having to overcome more than just an opponent in the opposing dugout at home.
Two thieves broke into First Horizon Baseball Park in the early morning hours on Saturday, May 16 and stole a number of gloves belonging to Sounds players, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The heist, which took place around 2:30 a.m., was captured on video surveillance, which the police department released to the public.
Video shows the two male suspects casually walking into the Sounds’ clubhouse before going out of sight. The department released images of the two males, whose faces were not hidden.
The Sounds didn’t let the off-the-field thefts stop them.
Sparked by an eight-run first inning, Nashville defeated the Iowa City Cubs, 12-1, on May 17, to tie a season-high in runs. The Sounds blasted two, two-out home runs in the opening frame, getting a grand slam by Eddys Leonard and a three-run homer by Jett Williams.
On the mound, staked to the huge lead, Garrett Stallings was in cruise control as he struck out six in 6 ⅔ innings.
The Sounds have outscored their opponents by a combined 43-13 during the winning streak, with five of the victories coming against the Cubs across two series.
