Motorcyclist killed after striking animal on Highway 18 in Piñon Hills

A motorcyclist died in a Friday night crash after striking an animal along Highway 18 in Piñon Hills, authorities said.

Arturo Villanueva Rivera, 39, of Victorville died in the crash, according to San Bernardino County coroner’s officials.

It occurred about 8:15 p.m. May 1 on the highway, also known as Palmdale Road, near Descanso Road in the unincorporated area of San Bernardino County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses called 911 reporting “the motorcycle rider had struck an animal and was ejected from the motorcycle,” coroner’s records show.

He died from his injuries at the scene.

No further details, including the type of animal involved in the crash, were available Saturday afternoon.
