Sienna Garcia and Amaya Sigala each homered and combined for six RBIs as Oak Hills defeated Apple Valley 15-5 in five innings on May 1 to earn a share of the Mojave River League softball title.
Apple Valley entered unbeaten in league play after a 16-13 win over Oak Hills on April 15, but the Bulldogs answered with a decisive victory to split the season series and share the league crown. Oak Hills will enter the CIF-Southern Section playoffs as the league’s No. 1 seed.
Oak Hills broke the game open with a dominant offensive performance, collecting 19 hits and putting pressure on Apple Valley throughout the game.
Garcia went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, while Sigala went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Anaya Tula went 3-for-4 with two RBIs; Mariah Tula went 3-for-4 with one RBI; and Kayla Cazares went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs.
Leah Hurd earned the win in the circle and contributed at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
For Apple Valley, Hailey Macias went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run, while Liza Lozano went 2-for-3. Allyssa Purser hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Both teams will play one final game before the postseason, which begins May 14.
Apple Valley travels to University Prep on May 6, while Oak Hills hosts Aquinas. The CIF-SS playoff brackets will be released May 8.

At Hesperia, the Sultans wrapped up the season with a victory at home.
Maddie Rios, a senior, went 2-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base in her final game at Sultana.
Alondra Flores went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, three runs and two stolen bases; Maricruz Venegas went 2-for-5 with two runs; and Mickee Crowe hit a grand slam.
Hesperia 8, Serrano 7
At Hesperia, Annamarie Flores hit the game-winning single in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring Jenevy Hidalgo and Aliyah Villalobos, to wrap up the season with a victory.
Flores ended 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs, and Villalobos went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
For Serrano, Alia Berlanga went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, and Kylee Moore went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Riverside Prep 4, University Prep 1
At Oro Grande, Lila Morris struck out 16 batters and allowed one run on one hit in the Cross Valley League finale.
Meeka Martinez went 1-for-2 with two runs and two stolen bases.
For University Prep, Sophia Perea went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

At Phelan, the Scorpions wrapped up league play with a victory over the Diamondbacks and in second place.
Gavin Coscarat went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Jacob Castillo hit a three-run home run.
For Serrano, Aidan Brambila went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Apple Valley 6, Oak Hills 1
At Oak Hills, the Sun Devils kept their playoffs hopes alive with a victory over the Bulldogs.
Andrew Wilson struck out seven batters and allowed one run on four hits over seven innings.
Homer-Wayde Munson went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Tyler Redona went 2-for-4 with a run.
For Oak Hills, Seth Marcil laced a lead-off triple and scored the lone run on a passed ball.
Burroughs 2, Sultana 1
At Hesperia, the Burros wrapped up the season as the MRL champions after fending off the Sultans’ late rally.
The Sultans finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning after Logan Jones scored on a passed ball with two outs. But Burroughs got a pop up for the final out, stranding the tying-run at third base.
Riverside Prep 15, University Prep 3
At Oro Grande, the Silver Knights wrapped up the Cross Valley League season 7-1 and atop the standings.
Jacob Villegas struck out 12 batters over five innings, and at the plate went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs and two stolen bases.
Victor Herrera went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs; Eddie Frausto went 2-for-3 with three RBIs; and Trent Bourgeois hit a grand slam.
Academy for Academic Excellence 9, Silver Valley 3
At Yermo, the Knights wrapped up the regular season with a victory on the road.
Gavin Ripley led the way going 2-for-4 with an RBI; Caleb Walker went 2-for-2 with two runs; and Aiden Carmona went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs and two stolen bases.
