Ashton Grable is headed to the National Football League.
On Saturday, April 25, the former Florida A&M All-American offensive lineman received a rookie minicamp invite from the Buffalo Bills following going undrafted during the 2026 NFL Draft.
Camp is set for May 9 and May 10 at the Kaleida Health Performance Center in Orchard Park, New York. The two-day camp allows drafted rookies, undrafted free-agent signees, and invited tryout players to practice and acclimate to the team’s schemes.
Grable will try out for the team that his brother, Tylan, plays for. Tylan Grable is also an offensive lineman and just played his second season in Buffalo.
Entering the draft, Ashton Grable was the Rattlers’ and one of Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ highest touted NFL prospects. Transferring from Jacksonville State in 2023, the Gordon, Georgia, native collected Southwestern Athletic Conference awards, was an NCAA All-HBCU selection, and started for FAMU during its 2023 Celebration Bowl win.
The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder had plenty of pre-draft opportunities. The mauler participated in February’s HBCU Legacy Bowl in New Orleans, FAMU’s on-campus NFL Pro Day, and the NFL HBCU Showcase in Virginia to catch the attention of professional football scouts.
Grable is one of three former Rattlers to get an NFL shot during the post-draft undrafted free agent cycle.
Defensive end Anthony Dunn, who played at FAMU in 2022 and 2023 before transferring to Toledo, is headed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ rookie minicamp. Former Rattlers linebacker Johnny Chaney Jr., who was there from 2021 until 2023 before leaving for Colorado and then Florida International to play for former FAMU head coach Willie Simmons, earned a rookie minicamp invite from the New Orleans Saints.
FAMU currently has four players on active NFL rosters: running back Terrell Jennings (New England Patriots), wide receiver and return man Xavier Smith (Los Angeles Rams), defensive end Isaiah Land (Dallas Cowboys), and safety Markquese Bell (Dallas Cowboys).
The program’s last NFL Draft selection was Brandon Hepburn in 2013, a linebacker picked in the seventh round by the Detroit Lions.
