Fans young and old enjoyed a brand new trailer for “Street Fighter” − and there’s a Florida tie.
The 2026 reboot of the live-action film inspired by the “Street Fighter” video game stars Noah Centineo and “Aquaman” and “Justice League” actor Jason Momoa. The movie also features wrestler-turned-actor Roman Reigns, a WWE star and Pensacola, Florida, native. Reigns’ real name is Joe Anoa’i. The trailer was released April 16 at CinemaCon and via YouTube.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the movie is the latest film adaption of the iconic Capcom video game by the same name. The second trailer dropped Thursday, April 16, six months ahead of its theatrical release date.
Reigns is set to play the character of “Akuma,” a legendary antagonist in the series hellbent on mastering the “Satsui no Hado” (or “surge of murderous intent” for those familiar with “Street Fighter” franchise). Akuma aims to be the strongest warrior in the world.

What is the plot of ‘Street Fighter’ the 2026 movie?
Set in 1993, the movie centers on estranged friends Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), who are recruited by the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) to face the world’s roughest, toughest street fighters – and possibly each other – in a brutal tournament.

Joe Anoa’i, better known as Roman Reigns, was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, on May 25, 1985. He attended Pensacola Catholic High School for three years before transferring to Escambia High School during his senior year.
Reigns played high school football at both schools. The Pensacola News Journal, a USA TODAY Network newspaper, named Reigns “defensive player of the year” during his senior year.
