Get ready for lots of green as St. Patrick’s Day returns in Ventura County with festivals, step dancing and a parade.
The biggest event is County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade scheduled for March 14 on Main Street in Ventura, featuring a giant inflatable pig named Bacon.
The Simi Valley Public Library will host an Irish step-dancing event for all ages March 7.
An Irish Fest at Enegren Brewing Co. in Moorpark with bagpipers and other music is scheduled for March 14.
The annual beer march in Camarillo with beer, cocktails and wine is set for March 15 at Old Town locations along Ventura Boulevard.
Camarillo
11th Annual Beer March: Event is 1-4 p.m. March 15 with check-ins from 1-2:30 p.m. at Camarillo Merchant Association, 2195 Ventura Blvd. and American Legion Post 741, 7 Veterans Way. A late check-in location after 2:30 p.m. is at Studio Channel Islands Art Center, 2222 Ventura Blvd. Craft beer, cocktails and wine will be served at Old Town locations along Ventura Boulevard. The event includes live music, tasty treats and a St. Patrick’s Day costume contest. Tickets are $52 in advance with deals on group tickets and $65 at the door. St. Patrick’s Day With The Animals: Children ages 2-10 can participate from 2-4 p.m. March 14 in a gold hunt through the farm, visit and feed treats to farm animals, make shamrock-inspired art and more at Presley May Farms, 6321 Grimes Canyon Road. Irish step dancing: The Simi Valley Public Library will host an Irish step dancing performance from 11 a.m. to noon on March 7 at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road. Students from Scoil Rince Daryl Rose in Simi Valley will perform a traditional step dancing recital at the Rose Garden. This family event is for children of all ages. Irish Mass: 8 a.m. March 17 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 3175 Telegraph Road. The Ventura Ancient Order of Hibernians, who will also participate in the County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade, will present the service. County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade: 10 a.m. March 14 on Main Street, from Lincoln Drive to Fir Street. This year’s parade theme, “Catch the Leprechaun Spirit!” captures the essence of the holiday and “celebrates all that is good and fun and green,” according to the parade’s website. Native Irishman Brian Brennan, a former mayor and four-term councilmember, is the grand marshal. The parade will feature equestrians, high school bands, costumes and a giant green, inflatable pig. Dargan’s St. Patrick’s Day Weekend: Opens 10 a.m. March 14 and March 17 with green beer, swag and a limited menu with Irish favorites at the Irish restaurant, 593 E. Main St. The restaurant usually opens at 11:30 a.m. Claddagh Irish dancers and the Ventura City Firefighters Pipes and Drums will perform throughout the weekend.
