Six local girls golfers advance to CIF-SS Individual Championships

Six area girls golfers — five from the Marmonte League — advanced to the CIF-Southern Section individual finals by finishing in the top 24 in the Northern Regional tournament at River Ridge Golf Club on Monday, Oct. 27.

Agoura senior Addison Kloch, Calabasas junior Julia Canales and Oaks Christian freshman Maya Brown each shot an even-par 72 to tie for fifth place and advance to the Individual Championship & SCGA Qualifying Tournament on Nov. 6 at Temecula Creek Golf Course.

Westlake junior Katelyn Brozowski shot a 73 to tie for 14th and Oaks Christian junior Carolyn Rao and Oak Park junior Nina Xu each shot a 74 to tie for 17th to advance.

Westlake’s Brielle Parness and Calabasas’ Asher Gonzalez each finished with 76 to just miss the cut. Oaks Christian’s Carinna Rao and Arianna Barry and Oak Park’s Bianca Magnifico each shot a 78. Oaks Christian’s Alesia Barry and Moorpark’s Ashley Dunbar both shot a 79.

Kandice Chuang of Buckley shot a 67 and won the first-place tiebreaker over Rina Kawaski of Palos Verdes.

Several area teams will compete in the CIF-SS Team Championships next week.

On Monday, Nov. 3, Oaks Christian will play in Division 1 at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills; Oak Park and Westlake will compete in Division 2 at Bear Valley Country Club in Victorville; and Foothill Tech, Thousand Oaks and Ventura will compete in Division 4 at Green River Golf Course in Corona.

Newbury Park and Nordhoff will play in the Division 5 tournament at El Prado’s Butterfield Course in Chino on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
