The city of Hesperia will partner with Advance Disposal to host a compost giveaway in conjunction with a Neighborhood Beautification and Tire Amnesty Day.
All events will run from 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 4, at 17105 Mesa Street, across from Advance Disposal in Hesperia.

Compost giveaway
Hesperia residents should bring shovels, sturdy containers and gloves to the self-serve event. Residents can take home up to 60 gallons of fresh compost for gardens, yard soil, and ground cover.
Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, city officials said. No commercial vehicles or trailers will be allowed.

Residents can drop off bulky items, such as mattresses, furniture, appliances, and carpet, as well as up to nine passenger or light-truck tires, for free. No commercial tires or yard waste will be accepted.
Participants must bring proof of Hesperia residency and unload their own items.
To help keep traffic moving, attendees should enter from Santa Fe Avenue and Mesa Street. Mesa Street at G Avenue will be an exit-only street, with no entry allowed from that direction.
