The High Desert Black Worker Center will celebrate the grand opening of its new community training center, with the goal of eliminating poverty and promoting economic justice.
The “Together We Rise” celebration is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 27, at the Millionaire Mind Kids Center, 15579 Eighth Street in Victorville.
Officials from the nonprofit Millionaire Mind Kids explained that the center, guided by the California State Department of Industrial Relations, is committed to expanding equitable access to quality employment, raising job standards, and dismantling workplace discrimination.
The High Desert Black Worker Center is committed to helping families achieve lasting financial stability through mortgage-paying wages, quality benefits and career advancement, organizers stated.
This event will serve as a community celebration and a call to action, uniting workers, families, and leaders in solidarity committed to building a future where every family thrives, organizers said.
The grand opening will include:
“The High Desert Black Worker Center represents more than just a space—it’s a movement,” President and CEO Delores Williams said. “Our goal is to create a collaborative hub where workers can come together, connect to apprenticeship programs, share resources, and build power to transform our communities.”
This grand opening marks a significant step forward in setting the stage for long-term economic regional impact across Southern California, organizers stated.
Community members, labor allies and families are encouraged to attend. Space is limited, and registration is required, and can be done online at eventbrite.com.
