Allegiant to add Chattanooga route from Florida that Spirit is dropping, starting at $49

Ultra-low-cost airline Allegiant Air on Sept. 9 announced three new routes and one destination, including a Florida route that struggling competitor Spirit Airlines is dropping next month.

The Las Vegas-based airline will begin offering flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Chattanooga, Tennessee via Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) starting Feb. 12, 2026, the company said in a release, with one-way fares starting at $49.

Earlier this month, Spirit confirmed it would be pulling out of 11 airports around the country as it seeks to cut costs and streamline its services during its second bankruptcy in a year. Chattanooga was one of them. Another competitor in the low-cost air travel industry, Frontier Airlines, was even quicker to capitalize on Spirit’s descent by announcing 42 new routes across the United States, many of them at Spirit hubs such as Fort Lauderdale.

Allegiant previously served the Fort Lauderdale-Chattanooga route up to 2009, according to Cirium Diio schedule data. The airline’s other new routes announced Sept. 9 connect Burbank, California to Bellingham, Washington and Provo, Utah.

“We’re thrilled to expand our network from coast to coast and look forward to bringing our brand of service to Burbank, California,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer. “This growth underscores our commitment to providing leisure travelers with more options to reach the destinations they love and strengthens our position as a leader in offering value-oriented air service.”

Allegiant has added several new routes to Florida airports this year, including trips to South Bend, Indiana; Knoxville, Tennessee; Allentown, Pennsylvania; Appleton, Wisconsin, Toledo, Ohio; Des Moines, Iowa; Fort Wayne, Indiana and New Orleans, Louisiana.

Allegiant offers a network of only nonstop, point-to-point flights and operates nearly half of its total capacity in Florida.

What are Allegiant’s new flights in Florida? When do they start?

How much are Allegiant tickets?

Allegiant Air tends to focus on serving leisure traffic from small and medium-sized cities which it considers to be underserved, using an ultra low-cost business model. The base fares are low, but there are add-on fees for services such as carry-on baggage and printed boarding passes and there is no WiFi or onboard entertainment.
