PANAMA CITY BEACH — Mother’s Day has passed, which means now it’s time to start thinking about what to do for dad for Father’s Day, which this year is June 21.
Here’s a look at some things to do with dad in Bay County:
Start one day early
Donuts With Dad will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center, 705 E. 14th Court, Panama City. The goal, according to organizers, is to “honor the fathers and important male role models who make a difference every day.”
Who is invited? “Dads, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and all special father figures are invited to enjoy donuts, smiles, and quality time with the kids they love most,” organizers say.

Grab something to eat
Take dad to get some grub, as Panama City Beach and Bay County are home to some mouthwatering food spots. Check your favorite restaurant’s website to see if they have any Father’s Day specials.
Just one example: Brine on the Bay BBQ, 1120 Bayview Ave., Panama City, is planning a Father’s Day cookout featuring not just food but music and games like cornhole, chess, dominoes and a poker tournament.
Hiking
Gayle’s Trails, Aaron Bessant Park, Conservation Park Trailhead, Frank Brown Park and Alys Beach Nature Trail are all great places to hike and exercise with dad. Convince him to get off the couch, grab a bottle of water, and exercise with you.
Go JetSkiing
Rent a JetSki and go ride the waves of the Gulf. It’s a beautiful activity to do with dad this summer! Emerald Surf Water Sports, Heritage Excursions and Adventures at Sea are all good places to rent.
Golfing
Enjoy peaceful winds, good exercise and beautiful grass by taking your dad golfing. There are numerous golf and putt-putt courses in Bay County such as Camp Creek Golf Couse, Pirates Island Adventure Golf, Origins Golf Club and Bay Point Golf Club.
Deep sea fishing
Catch a big fish with dad with help from companies such as Southern Dawn Charters, Jubilee Deep Sea Fishing and Hook Em’ Charters.
Buy a boat?
This might be too much for some dads, but Legendary Marine is holding a Father’s Day sale this year. More at legendarymarine.com
Head to the water park
Shipwreck Island Water Park, 12201 Hutchison Blvd., Panama City Beach, is promoting its “Island Time With Dad” event on June 21. Visit shipwreckisland.com for details.
