Not much changed Thursday for area teams in the latest USA Today Florida Network high school polls.
Choctawhatchee (2-0), which routed Navarre 42-0 at home, remains No. 7 in 4A ahead of Friday’s 7 p.m. matchup at Crestview (0-1) at Jack Foster Stadium. The Bulldogs are coming off a bye week following their 20-19 overtime loss to Milton (2-0) in the opener.
Ahead of the Big Green on the ranks are Jones, American Heritage, St. Augustine, Lake Wales, Norland and Jesuit, while Naples, Dillard and Columbia rounds out the top 10.
Niceville (1-1), which rebounded with a 27-6 win over Escambia at Eagle Stadium, maintained its No. 7 ranking in 5A ahead of Friday’s 7 p.m. matchup at Pine Forest (1-1), which lost 32-12 last week at Daphne (Alabama). St. Thomas Aquinas, Tampa Bay Tech, Edgewater, Lakeland, Lincoln and Mainland rank ahead of the Eagles, followed by Atlantic, Mater Academy and Gaither.
While none of Freeport (2-0), South Walton (2-0) and Walton (1-0) made the 2A top 10, the Braves are listed in the ARV (also receiving votes) portion. Bolles ranks first, followed by Cardinal Mooney, Bradford, Cocoa, Calvary Christian, Florida High, Bishop Verot, Cardinal Gibbons, Lakewood and Monsignor Pace.
Baker (2-0) also is on the outside looking in for the Rural ranks, which has Hawthorne ranked No. 1 ahead of Madison County, Pahoke, Union County and Williston.
