People can’t calm down over the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce engagement news. And, neither can we.
After two years together, Swift, one of music’s biggest stars, ever, and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl winner, announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post Aug. 26.
They shared several stunning photos from the proposal in a fairytale-esque, woodsy setting draped with greenery and florals in pink and white. In clever Swift fashion, she captioned it: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married “.
Cue: The world freaking out — including Wisconsin’s own, like Kwik Trip.
Here are some of the very Wisconsin social media reactions to the power couple’s proposal:
Kwik Trip was quick with it.
The beloved Wisconsin-based convenience store chain was all of us when it posted, “HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TWEET ABOUT OUR BRAT SALE WHEN TAYLOR SWIFT LITERALLY JUST GOT ENGAGED,” on X just after the announcement dropped.
When Hardee’s replied, “Probably like that,” KT told the fast-food chain to “quit flirting with me.” Umm … is a new famous couple loading?
One of the engagement photos shared with the announcement is of Trav embracing Tay as she gently holds his face with her hand that’s donning the engagement ring. Yeah, no, definitely not a paper ring. But rather, a gorgeous Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond designed by Kindred Lubeck, USA TODAY reported.
Anywho, the photo has already been meme-ed.
CheeseheadTV posted an image on X of the pic of the couple superimposed at Green Bay’s Stadium View Bar & Restaurant. I mean, they both were in GB at the same time that one time.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers labeled themselves as Swift in the pic and Kelce as “having 6 of the top 15 Brewers prospects on our team.”
I see your dreamy proposal, Travis and Taylor, and raise you getting engaged at Culver’s in a Packers jersey.
Sports personality Ben Stevens reposted the NFL’s congratulations to the couple, along with the famous photo of a couple getting engaged in front of a Culver’s sign. While those signs usually say the flavor of the day, this one said: “April, Will you marry me??? Love, RJ”. You know, icon behavior.
“That looks romantic,” Stevens said of the Swelce proposal pic the NFL shared. But, the Culver’s engagement “will never be topped.”
And, someone someway, somehow made the engagement news about the Edmund Fitzgerald. Yes, really.
“Taylor and Travis are engaged? That’s nice,” @notbobkoz posted on X. “But have you heard of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald?”
With the announcement’s Instagram caption referencing teachers, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction used the post to plug that the state is always “looking for great teachers” and where they can apply. Well-played.
