What states have the most billionaires? Florida ranks among top 5, with more than 115

Florida is no stranger to billionaires. The state’s history is filled with accounts of the rich and famous flocking to its beaches, waterways and golf courses, chasing the year-round warm climate that makes it a perfect place to enjoy – well, being rich.

Florida’s rich history (pun intended) dates all the way back to the days of early American hoteliers and railroad developers, such as Henry Flagler, who played a significant role in the growth of Florida’s east coast in the 1880s.

President Donald Trump is a fan of Florida. If you don’t know, Trump’s primary residence is at Mar-a-Lago, his club and resort in Palm Beach, Florida. During his first presidency, it was often referred to as the “Southern White House” or “Winter White House” because of the amount of time he spent here.

There’s also a neighborhood here nicknamed “Billionaire Bunker,” that has attracted the likes of billionaire and Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos, who owns not one, but three homes there.

So it comes as no surprise that Florida ranked in the top five most billionaire-dense states on a recent rankings list from Hennessey Digital, an online marketing agency.

Here’s where Florida ranked on the list and a little bit about the famous “billionaire bunker” neighborhood.

What states have the most billionaires?

To find the states with the most and least billionaires by count and per capita, Hennessey Digital used Forbes’ 2025 list of the world’s billionaires and narrowed the list down to billionaires who live in the U.S.

By count, Florida is the state with the third-most billionaires overall. California is first and New York is second. By capita, Florida takes fifth place behind Wyoming, New York, Nevada and Montana, in that order.

Here are the top five states with the most billionaires by count:

What states have no billionaires?

According to the rankings, there are only three states where no billionaires live at all: Alaska, Delaware and West Virginia.

Where is billionaire bunker in Florida?

“Billionaire Bunker,” formally called Indian Creek Village, is a private island community in Biscayne Bay, near Miami, Florida.

What is Indian Creek Village security like? What do we know about Billionaire Bunker near Miami, Florida?

A video originally posted Oct. 26, 2017, gives a peek into “America’s most secure community,” the Indian Creek Village Police Department in Miami.

“Nothing is ever routine,” Officer Jeremy Martinez says in the clip. “These are the most powerful people in the world so you’re dealing with the most powerful people in the world. On the flip of that, you know, my interactions with most of the people have been pleasant.”

In the 2017 video, Martinez adds: “The times I have spoken to most of the residents out here, they’re pretty down to earth, which you wouldn’t really typically think they are because they’re mostly billionaires or multimillionaires.

“As far as crime goes on the island, we really don’t have much crime on the island itself,” he said.

Martinez jokes that a newspaper article once labeled the police department as “butlers with badges.”

But policing the area is anything but simple. Policework and its obvious dangers are magnified for their marine officers. The video below gives a glimpse into patrolling Billionaire Bunker.
