Of note, the starting quarterback job is listed as Anthony Richardson or Daniel Jones. As Shane Steichen said, Jones will get the start this week, play a couple of series, then Richardson will take over for the remainder of the first half.

Now, of note, when it comes to unofficial depth charts, especially in the preseason, take it all with a grain of salt. While there may be a few noteworthy items, this isn’t the be-all, end-all by any means when it comes to where things stand.

Below is the Colts’ unofficial depth chart on both offense and defense, along with a few quick thoughts.

Colts’ unofficial depth chart on offense

– On last week’s depth chart, I was skeptical that Herbert was the fourth running back. But based on playing time against Baltimore, that is how things played out. At a position where three players are often rostered, he could be on the outside looking in currently.

– At tight end, Will Mallory and Jelani Woods are competing for that final potential roster spot, with either being able to fill that receiving-first role at the position. Mallory seems to have the steadier camp.

– On the offensive line, Pinter and Bortolini are competing for the starting center role, although based on playing time, Bortolini seems to have the advantage. Freeland and Travis are competing for the swing tackle role. Both players started last week.

Colts unofficial depth chart on defense

– The way Tuimoloau performed against Baltimore, he could jump Lewis on the depth chart at defensive end.

– Whether it be Johnson or Smith, the Colts need someone to step up and seize control of that backup nose tackle role.

– Jaylon Carlies is listed as a backup. While it’s been assumed he would start next to Franklin, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Joe Bachie has been making plays throughout camp and a strong push.

– The cornerback room is extremely thin. Jones and Brents are sidelined with hamstring injuries, while Kenny Moore had a recent knee injury. Sam Womack, Johnathan Edwards, and Alex Johnson are currently competing for the starting snaps opposite of Ward.

Colts’ unofficial special teams depth chart

– The competition at kicker appears to be all but over. Special teams coordinator Brian Mason said Shrader will handle the field goal attempts in Week 2 of the preseason and the bulk of the attempts in practices moving forward.
