FSU has seen improvements in recruiting, but the linebacker position remains one that they need to get better at. Florida State was able to convince three-star Karon Maycock to shut down his recruitment, but they have lost out on multiple blue-chippers lately.
The Seminoles were in the mix for four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell before he committed to the Miami Hurricanes. However, that pursuit hasn’t stopped, according to the Opa Locka, Florida product, as he plans to take a visit to Tallahassee this fall, along with a few other trips.
“Definitely with Nebraska and Florida State, they just have a family feel to just how they recruit everybody,” Campbell told CaneSport. “That’s just what I really like. They’re just making sure me and my family will be good in all aspects, and they’re just ready to do what they have to do right now. So that’s what I’m really excited about. And on the Auburn side, there’s just a real business part about it. They’ll have the best package for me and things like that and also just early playing time …”
Campbell got an offer from FSU in May of 2024 and attended a 7-on-7 camp a month later. He didn’t return to Tallahassee until June of this year. Despite the gap between visits, Campbell still has a lot of love for Florida State.
“It’s Florida State — they have always had a place in my heart,” Campbell said after his June visit. “Me being committed to Miami, I know they are supposed to hate each other, but I love Florida State, and I’m not scared to say it. I love Coach [Mike] Norvell too. He’s a cool dude.”
Florida State will host Miami on Oct. 4. That will be a pivotal game for them in their hopes of flipping Campbell.
