If the Los Angeles Rams are in the market for another edge rusher, one of their former draft picks just became available. The Cleveland Browns released Ogbo Okoronkwo on Thursday, moving on from the 30-year-old outside linebacker two years into a three-year deal.
The contract he signed with the Browns in 2023 was worth a total of $19 million. He played 30 games in Cleveland and made five starts, recording 7.5 total sacks in that span.
Okoronkwo came into the NFL in 2018 as a fifth-round pick out of Oklahoma. He didn’t play a single game as a rookie for the Rams due to a broken foot, but he returned in 2019 and played the next three years in Los Angeles.
He finished his Rams career with 4.5 sacks and 13 QB hits in the 33 games he played, leaving in free agency to sign a one-year, $3.25 million deal with the Texans in 2022.
In the six seasons he’s played, Okoronkwo has 17 career sacks, 38 QB hits and 31 tackles for a loss. He set a career-high with 12 tackles for a loss in 2023, with a career-best five sacks coming in 2022.
