Illinois football flips Oklahoma State commit, Class of 2026 edge rusher

Illinois football picked up its first commitment flip in the Class of 2026.

Former Oklahoma State pledge Jaylen Stewart told Illini Inquirer on Sunday night he will head to Champaign and play for the Fighting Illini. The senior-to-be and three-star edge rusher from Texas gave Illinois his verbal following an official campus visit this past weekend.

The 6-foot-1.5, 230-pounder, who had been committed to Oklahoma State since February, comes in as the No. 75 edge rusher in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports. He recorded 52 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks, while also playing running back during his junior season.

Stewart gives the Illini their 19th commitment in the Class of 2026.
