FOND DU LAC – Dodge County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Marion woman following a high-speed pursuit June 14.
Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, a lieutenant spotted a vehicle traveling double the posted speed limit of 25 mph in the village of Kekoskee. The driver increased speed once the lieutenant attempted to stop the vehicle, heading northbound and initiating a pursuit into Fond du Lac County.
As the pursuit reached speeds beyond 100 mph, another deputy assisted, followed by more aid from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver blew through stop signs, drove on the wrong side of the road at times, and failed to negotiate a turn at Highland and Kinwood roads, entering the ditch and field. She continued driving into Oakfield, then Fond du Lac, where she entered Interstate 41 northbound.
While on the highway, the vehicle slowed down to the speed limit, then even slower. Damage from earlier in the pursuit had disabled the car, stopping it on the shoulder just south of Winnebago Street.
Dodge County Sheriff’s Office executed a high-risk traffic stop, assisted by the Fond du Lac County deputies and troopers with the Wisconsin State Patrol. The driver, 20-year-old Lorie Johnson, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing/eluding an officer and second-degree reckless endangering safety, as well as a misdemeanor charge of bail jumping.
One passenger, a 20-year-old man, was detained and then released.
