Wisconsin man uninjured after his Cessna plane crashed into a lake

Craig Johnson, a 79-year-old pilot from Hudson, Wis., was left uninjured after his plane crashed into Mudhen Lake in Burnett County.

The plane — a Cessna U206G — crashed into the Daniels Township lake June 18 at 3:17 p.m., according to a press release from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office. A Good Samaritan helped Johnson, the sole occupant of the plane, onto a pontoon boat after the crash, the release said.

The Federal Aviation Administration’s preliminary accident description said the crash occurred after the plane bounced up and down while trying to land, when during one of the bounces the propeller hit the water, flipping the plane over.

The FAA said it will not issue a formal report on the crash until it concludes its investigation.
