The Wisconsin Badgers hit yet another low on Saturday night: They fell to the rival Iowa Hawkeyes 37-0.
Wisconsin is 2-4 (0-3 Big Ten) through six games. Its four-game losing streak, all to Power Four opponents, includes a point differential of 126-34 (an average score of 31.5-9). Dating to last season, the team has lost eight consecutive games to Power Four teams. Two of those have come against Iowa, arguably Wisconsin’s closest peer program, by a combined margin of 79-10.
In summary, Wisconsin isn’t just losing games to tough competition. It hasn’t been remotely competitive against any Power Four team since last November.
Saturday’s humiliating home loss in which Wisconsin was shut out at home for the first time since 1980, appears more like a program low than a forgettable moment in a season that is quickly becoming full of them. As the results become more and more lopsided, it becomes increasingly challenging to see the program move forward without significant changes.
Wisconsin fans, former players and media reacted as such. Here is some of that reaction.
