Incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Tony Wied has pulled even farther ahead in the money game against all three Democratic candidates in the race for the 8th Congressional District seat.
As of June 30, Wied has garnered over $1 million in total contributions to his reelection campaign and amassed over half a million dollars in available cash on hand, according to the most recent campaign finance reports filed by July 15.
Over half of the contributions, or about $576,000, came from political action committees. Most individual donations were earmarked through WinRed, the conservative fundraising platform. The five single largest line-item contributions to Wied’s campaign in the most recent reporting period were:

None of the Democratic candidates, Mark Scheffler, Rick Crosson or Katrina deVille, come anywhere close to comparable figures.
Scheffler, a former wealth advisor who has disavowed taking donations from corporations, brought in and spent the most of any Democrat, reporting about $133,000 coming into his campaign and spending about $114,000. As of June 30, he had about $19,000 available as cash on hand. The two single largest donations to his campaign in the most recent reporting period were made by Scheffler himself of $5,000 on both May 1 and June 13.
Crosson, a former Green Bay School Board member, has gotten about $63,000 to his campaign and has spent over $29,000. His campaign counted almost $21,000 in available cash to spend, the most of any Democrat.
deVille, a singer and saxophonist for the band Katrina deVille and the Nobody Famous, has stockpiled the smallest coffers among any candidate. Her campaign has spent $6,043, nearly as much as the $6,079 reported in contributions. deVille reported about $36 left in available cash.
The Democratic field will be whittled down during the Aug. 11 primary to one contender who will face Wied in the Nov. 3 general election.
