The biggest shopping day of the year is a week away, but you’ve still got time to decide where to track down the best Black Friday deals.
But if you’re not sure where to go in pursuit of saving this holiday season, a new report from WalletHub, a personal finance website, shows what stores offer the biggest discounts. It analyzed more than 3,100 deals from 13 of the largest U.S. retailers’ 2025 Black Friday ad scans.
Here’s a look at the retailers in the Milwaukee area offering holiday shoppers the best discounts.

JCPenney tops list of retailers offering biggest discounts for Black Friday
JCPenney will offer an average discount of 74.1% for Black Friday, the most of any retailer on WalletHub’s list. This is the seventh time it has earned the top spot in the report since 2014. The personal finance website highlights JCPenney’s steep discounts on apparel, jewelry and appliances.
JCPenney stores will open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday, though closing times will vary by location, USA TODAY reported.
Kohl’s will have major Black Friday deals on apparel and appliances
With an average discount of 45.4%, Kohl’s ended up in third place on WalletHub’s list. The Wisconsin-based retailer’s best deals by far are on its apparel and accessories, which the report says are marked down 53.5% on average. Its appliances, meanwhile, are discounted an average of 42.4%.
Kohl’s stores will open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday, the retailer announced earlier this month.
Macy’s to offer discounts on apparel, furniture and toys for Black Friday
Macy’s was the fourth-place retailer on WalletHub’s list, with an average Black Friday discount of 44.5%. It was among the top finishers in a few specific categories, including apparel and accessories (37.5%), furniture (40%) and toys (39.6%).
Macy’s stores will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, the department store chain announced.
Home Depot will have Black Friday sales on appliances, electronics and furniture
Home Depot will offer an average discount of 35.6% for Black Friday, up slightly from last year and good enough for fifth-place on WalletHub’s list. It ranked near the top in a few categories, including appliances (37.4%), consumer electronics (32.7%) and furniture (41%).
Home Depot stores will have normal hours on Black Friday, though those may vary by location, a spokesperson told the Journal Sentinel.
