Wisconsin basketball announces date for Marquette rivalry matchup

The Wisconsin Badgers will meet the rival Marquette Golden Eagles on Dec. 5, 2026, at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to a recent announcement.

The contest will mark the 132nd all-time meeting between the neighboring programs. Wisconsin leads the all-time series 72–60, including a decisive 96-76 win last December. Dating back to 2021, the Badgers have won four of the last five meetings.

Wisconsin will enter 2026-27 with a new-look lineup after a busy transfer cycle. The program will welcome three transfers, all of whom will likely start: Trey Autry, Eian Elmer and Victory Onuetu. That group is tasked with helping to replace the production lost from John Blackwell, who recently transferred to Duke, and Nick Boyd, who is out of eligibility. For context, those stars combined to average 39.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game last season.

Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard will again have his hands full as he works to maintain his program’s strong run of success.

Marquette, meanwhile, went just 12-20 in 2025-26, missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time under Shaka Smart. The program will enter 2026-27 badly needing a resurgent season.
