TWO RIVERS – The city of Two Rivers is putting a hold on renovating the Neshotah Beach concession stand after the Wisconsin Department of Administration denied its grant application.
State grant denial puts Neshotah Beach project on hold
The grant would have funded nearly half the total project cost, or approximately $255,000.
“From the very beginning, the city has been clear: the building renovation would only move forward if at least half of the cost was covered by outside funding sources, including state grants and room tax dollars from the Explore Two Rivers,” City Manager Kyle Kordell wrote in a Facebook post.
The Two Rivers City Council directed Kordell to use the $255,000 earmarked for the concession stand to help offset capital spending in 2027 and to revisit the renovation project if future grant opportunities become available.
Health code violations and ADA compliance issues remain
Without any renovations, the concession stand continues to violate Manitowoc County health codes, and the bathrooms and changing rooms remain uncompliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
