A storm with rain and sleet has caused power outages in the area and led to some traffic lights going dark on Green Bay’s east side this morning.
Green Bay police said several traffic lights went out for about an hour due to power outages and icing from the storm. At 10:20 a.m. April 2, police said the traffic lights were functioning again but cautioned there could still be outages and to treat any intersections as a four-way stop.
As of 10:30 a.m., 4,420 Wisconsin Public Service customers were without power in Brown County, according to WPS outage map. Suamico currently has the most reported outages of nearly 3,300 customers. About 650 are in Green Bay.
The storm is expected to continue until the afternoon. A winter weather advisory is in effect for Manitowoc, Brown, Door and Kewaunee counties until 1 p.m. Total ice accumulations of up to 0.2 inch is possible and there is the potential for tree damage, according to the National Weather Service Green Bay.
The roads in the Green Bay area were mostly wet, but ice was accumulating on trees, leading to falling branches or trees causing outages.
