With that door now closed on any dreams of acquiring future Hall of Famer Myles Garrett, there’s another pass rusher who’s been connected to the Cowboys who could become their next target. Steelers Alex Highsmith just saw his backup sign a more lucrative deal, and could now find himself on the outside looking in in Pittsburgh. Dallas could make a call and see if he’s available.
Or they could wait until mid-summer to make a move; it’s what they normally do after all. Wait until there’s an injury or finally give in to the fact that they need more reinforcements on defense. Dallas has approximately $8 million in cap space and could use help on defense, whether at linebacker or as a pass rusher, but only time will tell if the front office is willing to make a move. The only person who could force a move would be defensive coordinator Christian Parker, if he were to press the issue after seeing what he currently has on the roster, and he’s gotten his first taste of such during the first two days of OTAs this week.
