Some small pets and fish were rescued in a fire June 16 at PetSmart on Green Bay’s east side.
An electrical fire started in fish tank equipment around 6:45 a.m., according to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. Firefighters found smoke throughout the building at 2280 E. Mason St. and fire protection sprinkler systems were activated.
Many pets and fish were rescued after the fire was put out, but a small number of fish did not survive, the fire department said.
No large animals were in the building during the fire. Surviving pets were taken to other PetSmart stores around the Fox Valley.
The fire department said the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.
