SHEBOYGAN – One person has been displaced from their home and two cats have died after a fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damages to a mobile home at Sommers Trailer Park.
Sheboygan Fire Department said in a news release that crews were dispatched to the trailer park on Elmwood Drive at around 9:07 a.m. June 16.
Crews arrived within four minutes and found light smoke coming from the exterior of the home. They found the fire in the kitchen and quickly extinguished it.
Additional crews searched the building and confirmed all occupants had exited safely, but found two cats that had perished. One cat survived and was reunited with the homeowner.
Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour-and-a-half conducting overhaul and checking for hot spots.
No one was injured in the blaze and the cause remains under investigation.
