A severe thunderstorm watch for parts of southern Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa is in effect until 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
A severe thunderstorm watch means severe storms are possible and typically covers a large area. A warning means severe weather has been reported by spotters or indicated by radar, and people should seek shelter.
A line of thunderstorms is expected to track across southern Wisconsin from mid-morning to early afternoon, possibly bringing damaging wind, large hail and heavy rain, the NWS said.
The area most at risk of severe weather, according to the weather service, is along a line from southern Sauk County to southern Milwaukee County.
Storms are expected to hit the Milwaukee area between 9 and 11 a.m. and move east over Lake Michigan by 1 p.m.
Forecasts call for more rain, or the possibility of it, from Wednesday, Aug. 12, to Saturday, Aug. 15.
