All northbound lanes on Interstate 43 near Mukwonago have reopened following a fatal semitruck crash that shut down the highway for most of Thursday, May 21.
The crash happened just after 6 a.m. when one semitruck rear-ended another on I-43 northbound between highways 83 and 164. The driver of the semi that struck the other died at the scene, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office. The other driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The lanes were closed for several hours to allow for a crash investigation and cleanup before reopening at 6:15 p.m.
No additional information about the drivers was immediately available.
