A 20-year-old Kenosha man died after a minibike collided with a box truck in Kenosha June 16.
Police responded to the crash around 12:16 p.m. at the intersection of 60th Street and 13th Avenue. Video evidence and witness statements indicated that a “non-street-legal minibike” and box truck were both headed westbound on 60th Street, according to a statement from the Kenosha Police Department.
Lt. Adam Jurgens, public information officer with the police department, said the box truck was traveling ahead of the minibike. When the box truck started to take a right turn to go northbound on 13th Avenue, the minibike crashed into the truck.
Officers rendered aid to the minibike operator at the scene. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he died.
Jurgens said the identity of the 20-year-old man is being withheld, pending notification of family.
Police said the driver of the box truck stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with investigators. The Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team was active and processing the scene as of around 3 p.m. June 16, police say. An investigation is ongoing.
