MARSHFIELD − A “for sale” sign at the site of a proposed Panda Express restaurant in Marshfield has generated numerous questions from readers in recent weeks.
The sign along North Central Avenue, near the intersection of North Peach Avenue on the city’s northside, lists real estate agent Rita Blenker of Century 21 as the contact. The vacant corner lot is at a high-traffic intersection across from Walmart and Kwik Trip.
When a Marshfield News-Herald reporter reached out to Blenker, she said the sale of the 2-acre property will close on July 8 for the future Panda Express development.
According to city documents, Panda Express plans to build along the north section of the property along North Peach Avenue, directly across from Kwik Trip. The other section of the property will be used for a yet unknown future tenant.
When will construction begin for Panda Express?
A representative for Panda Express told the Marshfield News-Herald earlier this month that construction on the Marshfield restaurant at 106 N. Peach Ave. should start in late July or early August, according to the latest construction reports. The opening has been pushed back to January 2027, they said.
The free-standing restaurant will employ about 40 people and seat up to 50 guests, the representative said earlier. It will also offer a dual-lane drive-through.
Plans call for a 2,700-square-foot building with indoor dining, a dual-order point system and exterior architectural elements consistent with Panda Express’ national brand standards. The layout includes parking areas on the south and east sides.
The city’s Plan Commission and Common Council both approved construction of the new Panda Express restaurant at their Dec. 16 meetings.
