Reader's choice: Vote for Central Wisconsin's Menke GMC Athlete of the Week

Who is Central Wisconsin’s high school standout player of the week? You can be the judge right here.

The Menke GMC Athlete of the week poll for May 25- June 1 is open until noon Thursday, June 5.

Vote for the high school performer you think stands out and shined brightest from a field of high-performing student-athletes and cast your vote. Entrants include athletes in soccer, softball, baseball and track and field.

Chris Marcell, Marathon track and field: Marcell recorded the second-farthest discus throw for a high school in the country at the D3 Marathon sectional. 

Matthew Vollert, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln baseball: Vollert scored two runs and drove in four in Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln’s 9-6 win over Wausau West.

Brooklyn Schoenick, Assumption track and field: Schoenick qualified for state and broke the school’s 38-year-old record in the 1600m race at the D3 Marathon sectional.

Lucy Dolan, Assumption track and field: Dolan won the 3200m race, finishing just one second off her school record and then finished a few points ahead of Schoenick to surpass the 1600m record-breaking time.

Peyton Mancl, Pacelli softball: Mancl broke the single-game strikeout record in Pacelli’s 1-0 playoff win over Marathon on May 29.

Keltin Opper, Pacelli baseball: Opper pitched six innings for Pacelli in their 4-2 win over Edgar, only relenting one run and striking out eight. 

Kaylin Yenter, Pacelli softball: Yenter belted a home run and drove in two batters in Pacelli’s 12-1 playoff win over Necedah on May 27.

Addi Vollert, Assumption soccer: Vollert knocked in a trio of goals to help Assumption beat Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia 8-0 on May 27. 

Ella Van Order, Pacelli softball: Van Order smashed Pacelli’s second home run of the day to help the team edge Necedah 12-1, she finished scoring two runs and driving in one.
