The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at a park the evening of May 30 that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old Milwaukee man and the arrest of a 25-year-old Milwaukee woman.

Milwaukee County’s 911 Dispatch Center was notified at 6:47 p.m. of a reported shooting in Center Street Park “during a large picnic-style social gathering.” The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Milwaukee Police Department and Milwaukee Fire Department responded and found the man, who was fatally wounded having been shot at least twice in his upper torso. No other injuries were reported. Per the investigation and witness statements, the woman was arrested at the scene as the alleged shooter and she had two firearms in her possession, according to an email May 30 from Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson James Burnett to the Journal Sentinel.
