MANITOWOC – From story time and bubble play to summer reading and career help, Manitowoc Public Library has a full lineup of family-friendly activities and practical resources planned in the days ahead.
The library at 707 Quay St. also is shifting to its summer schedule, with Sunday closures running from after Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Story time and early learning fun
Baby Storytime is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4; Wednesday, June 10; and Thursday, June 11. Each session includes stories, songs, rhymes, bounces, parachute activities and bubbles, followed by playtime. The program is recommended for developmental ages 0-2, and siblings are welcome. Registration is not required.
Preschool Storytime also will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4; Wednesday, June 10; and Thursday, June 11. Families with preschoolers can expect singing, reading, creating and play, along with lessons centered on early literacy, colors, counting, patterns and emotions. The program is recommended for developmental ages 2-5. Children younger than 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is not required.
The library also is now on its summer schedule and will be closed on Sundays through Labor Day weekend. Regular Sunday hours will return after the holiday.
Helpful resources for adults
DWD Employment Assistance and Career Counseling is available Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the library’s Franklin Street Room. Department of Workforce Development staff can help with résumés, online job applications, Job Center of Wisconsin registration and more. No appointment is needed.
Summer fun for kids and families
Baby Bubble Bop will take place from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the Balkansky Community Room. The sensory-rich playtime invites babies age 3 and younger to dance, pop bubbles and explore movement and early learning through hands-on fun.
Summer Reading Sign-Up at Cedar Crest is set for noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Cedar Crest Ice Cream Parlor, 2000 S. 10th St., Manitowoc. Early registrants for the 2026 Summer Reading Program will receive a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream. The event will be canceled in case of inclement weather.
Rise and Thrive: Building Resilience for Summer and Beyond, a free life skills workshop presented with Rogers Behavioral Health, is planned for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11. Organizers say the monthly workshop series is open to the community and designed to build practical life skills in a supportive, nonclinical setting. Registration is encouraged but not required.
