International champion quartet to headline Clipper City Chordsmen show

MANITOWOC – Manitowoc students and music lovers are in for a treat as Instant Classic, an International Champion barbershop quartet, arrives April 17-18 as guests of the Clipper City Chordsmen.

The quartet will be featured in the Clipper City Chordsmen’s 81st annual Spring Show at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, and 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, 6751 Calumet Ave., Manitowoc.

The show, titled “Happy Birthday, Uncle Sam: A Musical Tribute Celebrating 250 Years,” features Instant Classic alongside the Clipper City Chordsmen, quartets Lake Effect, Quandary, BarberPops, Inspiration and the ensemble Harmony To Go.

Tickets to the Spring Show are $20 for adults and $10 for students and are available through any Chordsmen member, at Fricke Printing on 14th Street in Manitowoc, through clippercitychordsmen.org or through eventbrite.com.

Who is Instant Classic?

Instant Classic — David Zimmerman, Theo Hicks, and brothers Kohl and Kyle Kitzmiller — are the 2015 International Quartet Champions, known for blending vocal jazz, musical theater, pop and R&B.

Instant Classic will also perform educational programs across the county

Supported by grants from Harmony Foundation International and the Association of International Champions, Instant Classic will spend Friday, April 17, performing educational programs for student singers across Manitowoc County.

Middle and high school students from Two Rivers, Manitowoc, Mishicot, Lutheran, Reedsville and Roncalli will attend a morning session at Roncalli High School Auditorium from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Students from Valders and Kiel will take part in a second afternoon appearance at the Valders High School Cafetorium from 2 to 3:10 p.m.

During each visit, Instant Classic will perform, explain what makes barbershop harmony unique, answer student questions and lead group singing.
