Virtex closing Menomonee Falls plant, 91 jobs lost

Electronic manufacturing company Virtex is planning to end all production at its Menomonee Falls facility located at W133N5138 Campbell Drive, formerly known as MTI Electronics. The decision impacts 91 workers.

The company made the announcement on April 29. The company plans to start laying off employees between June 28 and July 12 and completely close the facility by October 31.

“Certain employees will be employed beyond this date based on the plant’s winding up efforts and transition of work,” according to a letter from MTI Electronics to DWD. “The company will be communicating directly with those workers about their expected departure timeframes.”

MTI Electronics was acquired by VirTex, based in Texas, in 2014.

“MTI Electronics’ customer base and focus is very complimentary to that of Virtex,” former VirTex CEO Brad Heath said at the time. “In MTI, there is a tremendous opportunity to cross-sell services and leverage the smart sourcing concept that VirTex has pioneered with its Austin and Juarez facilities.”

According to Virtex’s website the company provides electron manufacturing services for defense, aerospace, space, medical device, and industrial markets.
