After a wildly entertaining 2024-25 college basketball season and several months of further anticipation, the 2025 NBA draft has finally arrived.
The two-round event will take place over the next two days at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The Dallas Mavericks hold the first overall pick after winning last month’s draft lottery. Duke forward Cooper Flagg is the overwhelming favorite to be their selection.
Many questions exist regarding the next 58 picks. Remember, this year’s draft contains one fewer pick than the typical 60 after the New York Knicks forfeited their second-round selection. Among those questions, specific to the Wisconsin Badgers, is the placement of All-American wing John Tonje.
Tonje is older than most draft prospects at 24 years old. However, he’s fresh off one of the greatest seasons in Wisconsin program history, with per-game averages of 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists on shooting rates of 46.5% from the field, 39% from 3 and 91% from the free-throw line. TV Channel: ESPN, ABC
Start time: 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. CT
The first round of the 2025 NBA draft will take place on Wednesday, June 25, at 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. CT. It will be broadcast nationally on ESPN and ABC.
Wisconsin fans should note that the second round, when John Tonje is likely to be selected, will start at the same time on Thursday, June 26. That day’s broadcast will be available only on ESPN.
