Germantown School District superintendent resigns

The Germantown School District’s superintendent has resigned after being on leave from his role with the district since April.

The Germantown School Board accepted Chris Reuter’s resignation at its June 16 meeting. His last day as superintendent will be June 30, according to a statement from Germantown School Board President Russell Ewert. That statement did not provide reasons for Reuter’s resignation.

Since April, Jake Misiak, the district’s director of teaching and learning, and Martin Castro, the district’s director of human resources, have served as interim co-superintendents. Ewert said Castro and Misiak will continue in those roles until the Germantown School Board figures out its next steps at its June 23 meeting.

Neither Reuter nor Ewert were immediately available for comment.

Ewert said in an April 20 letter to parents that Reuter had taken leave for a personal matter but did not specify what the personal matter was or how long he would be on leave.

Reuter had been superintendent since the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
