The Green Bay Packers limped to the finish line of a once promising but eventually injury-ravaged 2025 season, losing in calamitous fashion on Saturday night to the Chicago Bears to finish off a five-game losing streak, and now the Packers will enter the 2026 offseason knowing the team is about to change in a major way.
Green Bay has 21 total players with expiring contracts (including nine unrestricted free agents) and little functional salary cap space to retain them, plus the internal motivation to add draft picks via the compensatory pick system, which requires allowing free agents to depart. There’s no way around it. Big changes are ahead.
Via Over the Cap, here’s the full list of free agents for the Packers in 2026, sorted by percentage of snaps played in 2025, plus definitions of each free agent type from the NFL:
Unrestricted free agents (9)
Unrestricted: “Any player with four or more accrued seasons and an expired contract; free to negotiate and sign with any team.”
Restricted free agents (8)
Restricted: “A player with three accrued seasons and an expired contract. RFAs are free to negotiate and sign with any team, but their original team can offer them one of various qualifying offers that come with the Right of First Refusal and/or draft-pick compensation.”
Exclusive rights (4)
Exclusive rights: “Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract at the league minimum (based on his credited seasons), the player cannot negotiate with other teams.”
