A new specialty license plate would give drivers a year-round way to support Wisconsin FFA programs and students.
The Wisconsin FFA Foundation announced that the Wisconsin FFA license plate campaign is officially entering the design phase. This is a big step toward eventually seeing these specialty plates on vehicles across the state.
The plate will celebrate agriculture, Wisconsin and FFA pride. The campaign got its start earlier this year thanks to support from the Elkhorn FFA Alumni & Supporters, who covered the initial fee needed to kick off the process. After that, supporters across the state stepped up to collect 500 signatures. Once the DMV approved those signatures, the project was cleared to move forward.
Now comes the fun part — designing the plate. The Foundation is opening up a design contest for anyone who wants to take part. Entries are due by July 1, 2026, and you can find the template and submission form at https://tinyurl.com/43fuk2kx.
Designs do need to follow DMV guidelines, like keeping certain text areas intact, using the official Wisconsin logo correctly, and leaving specific background areas white. Full requirements are found at https://tinyurl.com/2pvbsuv8.
Once approved, each plate will contribute directly to FFA programs statewide with a $25 annual donation to the Wisconsin FFA Foundation. The total cost will be $125, which covers registration, issuance fees, and that contribution to support FFA programs and members across Wisconsin.
The winning design will be polished with help from the Foundation and turned into the final version for production.
Overall, the Foundation sees this license plate as a lasting way for people to show their support for Wisconsin agriculture while helping invest in the future of FFA. To follow along with the campaign, visit https://wisconsinaged.org/license-plate-campaign.
