Former Wisconsin guard takes subtle jab at Baboucarr Ann's commitment

Former Wisconsin Badgers guard Daniel Freitag didn’t let his thoughts go unnoticed on Baboucarr Ann’s commitment post.

Ann, who committed to the Badgers on June 25, took to Instagram a few days ago with a photo in a Wisconsin uniform with the caption “truly blessed.”

Freitag, who played at UW during the 2024-25 season, commented “gl.”

His all-lowercase, two-letter comment certainly sheds light on what one Minnesota native feels about the other’s decision.

Remember, Ann’s teammate at Maple Grove High School, Jack Thelen, committed to the Badgers on June 13.

Ann is a highly touted four-star recruit, one that Freitag may believe is making a mistake with his commitment. Freitag’s thoughts are one thing, but his situation is entirely different than what Ann is going through.

For reference, Freitag appeared in 14 games with the Badgers and averaged just 2.0 minutes per game. He then transferred to Buffalo, where he started 22 of the 23 games he appeared in, averaging 33.2 minutes.
