CALUMET – A boat stored inside a pole shed caught fire Friday morning in the town of Calumet, spreading into the building’s attic, authorities said.
Boat fire spreads to attic in Fond du Lac County pole shed
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office communications center received a call at about 9:28 a.m. May 8, reporting a structure fire at W2211 County Trunk HHH, the sheriff’s office said. The Calumet Fire Department and Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputies responded.
Crews found smoke coming from the building and were able to contain the fire to the shop and attic areas, authorities said.
Fire cause under investigation; no additional details released
Investigators believe a boat stored in the shop area of the structure caught fire, which then spread into the attic space. The Calumet Fire Department is investigating. No further information was released.
Calumet Fire Department assisted by multiple area agencies
Assisting agencies included Calumet First Responders; the Mount Calvary, Town of Fond du Lac, Stockbridge, New Holstein, Eden, St. Cloud, St. Anna and Chilton fire departments; and RIT Team 4.
