RICHMOND, IN — A Richmond man has been sentenced to a total of nine years in prison after pleading guilty to burglary and battery charges.
Dakota R. Damrell, 21, received an eight-year sentence — six years of incarceration followed by two years on probation — on Monday, May 5, after he pleaded guilty to the burglary charge, a Level 3 felony, in Wayne Superior Court 2.
In that case, the Richmond man was accused of entering a home on North Salisbury Road in September 2023 after he kicked in the front door. That occupant of that home also told Wayne County sheriff’s deputies that Damrell repeatedly struck him in the head and face.
In another Superior Court 2 case, Judge Gregory Horn imposed a three-year prison term after Damrell pleaded guilty to battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony.
In that case, Damrell was accused of striking his brother in the head with a handgun on Dec. 19, 2024.
Horn ruled the two sentences would be served consecutively. The Richmond man was granted credit for already serving 447 days in the Wayne County Jail.
