FOND DU LAC – Anyone driving home after holiday festivities may run into some rain Dec. 25.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday evening holds a 50% chance of rain in Fond du Lac, as of Dec. 22. The temperature on Christmas Day itself is expected to reach 42 degrees.
Leading up to the holiday, the area is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook through Monday night, with light drizzle and light freezing drizzle possible starting in the afternoon. Untreated roads and other surfaces may develop slick spots.
The sun is expected to make an appearance Tuesday until the weather turns cloudy into Friday.
Looking further ahead to New Year’s Eve, the NWS climate prediction center’s long-range forecast as of Dec. 21 predicts 33% to 40% chance for above-normal precipitation in the area Dec. 29 to Jan. 4. For temperature in the same date range, the forecast predicts a 50% to 60% chance for above-normal temperatures.
