MANITOWOC – Mikadow Theatre will show “Winter Hymns” at 3 and 7 p.m. Friday, April 24.
The independent feature, written and directed by Wisconsin native Nathan Deming, is touring the state after two sold-out screenings at the 2026 Wisconsin Film Festival.
‘Winter Hymns’ movie: Plot and runtime
Set over one winter day in a hospital room, the 158-minute drama follows a palliative care physician (Colleen Madden) as she meets with 10 terminal patients and their families for “the care that doesn’t cure.”
Deming said in a news release that he drew inspiration from his father’s work in palliative medicine.
“Palliative care tries to address the things that we never, ever say out loud,” he told The Cap Times.
Cast and filmmaker behind ‘Winter Hymns’
The cast includes Madden, Sarah Day, Flora Coker, Ericka Kreutz and Chiké Johnson.
Deming also cast some non-actors to reflect Wisconsin voices.
The tour follows the film’s sold-out world premiere in Madison.
